Within Histogen's proprietary bioreactors, newborn fibroblasts are seeded onto a beadlike structure and conditioned with liquid media. Within a few days cells have produced a dense embryonic-like ExceltrixTM and have secreted wnt proteins and various growth factors into the liquid that bathes them.

Our Technology
The environment created by Histogen’s proprietary process is a simulation of the conditions within the womb – very low oxygen (3-5%), as well as suspension. In this environment, newborn cells produce an insoluble ECM material, which is rich in collagens and other valuable components characteristic of young, rapidly developing tissue. When grown in this manner, the cells also produce a variety of naturally-secreted soluble biologicals with therapeutic potential, which are stabilized and bioactive in a biocompatible liquid formula. These include VEGF, KGF and follistatin, which are key regulators of tissue formation and regeneration by stem cells.

From Histogen’s technology process that mimics the embryonic environment, the Company produces three key products: 1) soluble multipotent cell conditioned media (CCM), large molecular weight fraction for skin care and hair growth, 2) soluble low molecular weight CCM for oncology applications (105F) and 3) insoluble extracellular matrix (ECM) for orthopedics and wound care.

Histogen's one techology, numerous applications approach offers a continuum of product introduction opportunities, from lead applications such as hair regrowth and skincare, to therapeutics including orthopedics and oncology.
