Within Histogen's proprietary bioreactors, newborn cells from a single source cell bank are placed into a bioreactor on dextran beads and conditioned with a liquid media. Through a unique technology process that simulates the embryonic environment, newborn cells are directed to become multipotent, and naturally produce the vital proteins and growth factors from which the Company has developed its product portfolio.

Our Technology
Histogen’s technology is based on the discovery that growing newborn skin cells under embryonic conditions induces them to revert back to become multipotent stem cells. The environment created by Histogen’s proprietary process is a simulation of the conditions within the womb – very low oxygen (3-5%), as well as suspension. When cultured under these conditions the cells generate a set of biological materials that, when later isolated and purified, stimulate a patient’s own stem cells to activate and regenerate tissue.

From Histogen’s single proprietary manufacturing process which mimics the embryonic environment, the Company produces two key products: 1) soluble multipotent cell conditioned media (CCM), large molecular weight fraction for skin care and hair growth, and 2) insoluble extracellular matrix (ECM) for orthopedics and wound care.

Histogen's one technology, numerous applications approach offers a continuum of product introduction opportunities, from lead applications such as hair regrowth and skincare, to therapeutics including orthopedics and wound healing.
